Lately I have been noticing that some bloggers are not happy with their hosting service. Different hosting companies, different problems, I guess that sometimes things just doesn’t work out and people start looking for a better hosting company.

For those looking for hosting service I advise you to take a look at the webhostingrating site. Why? This site provides information about Host Awards and Hosts Ratings meaning you can check who are the best rated web hosting companies as well as the companies that received awards for their service.

Speaking for myself I must say that having a full time job, a house and two kids to take care (not to mention the husband) I want to be assured that my blogs are hosted by a good company so that I don’t have to worry about poor quality service, cpu problems, etc..

So, if you are having problems with your hosting service check the rates at webhostingrating, compare services, quality and prices and choose the one that suits you the best. If you have your sites/blogs hosted for free remember, having a paid hosting service brings you business opportunities because advertisers prefer paid over free hosted sites.

Finally I have my cable TV working 100%. Several technicians spent the whole morning trying to figure out what was going on with my phone line and they managed to fix it. During my lunch time they finished the installation. Now I have phone, Internet and TV in one whole package and I’m able to have cable TV in two rooms (before it was only possible in one) meaning the kids can watch Disney Channel or Panda while we watch Fox, AXN or P&A (my favorites).

At least something end up right!!! I was affraid they were going to remove the service because of bad line conditions. I want to keep my night blogging but I’m sure there will be night when I will be distracted by all the new TV channels I have.

Since early age, my son has been a very active and curious boy. Right after he started walking by himself I was in trouble because every appliance with a door or buttons was a target for him. We realized that electric plugs were a high risk issue so we bought safety caps that could only be removed with a piece of metal. Sometimes when I needed to use a certain plug I used to remove the safety cap, use the plug and immediately insert the safety cap again. I must say that the safety caps I used were very narrow and for the few times I forgot to put them back after using the plug my son ended up with them in the mouth and this scared me a lot. Although it never happened to my son, it was very easy for a baby / toddler to chock with one of those.

I’m glad George DeCell invented SafetyCaps. Having a daughter himself that chocked with one regular plug, he, more than anyone, knew the urge to find a safe electrical outlet safety plug.

Safetycaps have the ideal measure (greatest diameter of 2 1/3″) and have air holes to prevent kids from choking. This is a totally safe product that can save your kids life.

One whole house can be totally protected with only $10.99 (or for $9.99).

Thank you George for invented SafetyCaps that are really safe.

I really am not in a good phase of my life. I’m fed up with my work (I need motivation to go on with my life), my back pain is killing me and patience is something I lose very easily.

Thursday I was in such pain that I went to the doctor and the prescription was an urgent pain killer injection and three more in the following three days. The last injection is tomorrow and although I feel a little better today the pain is here, still active.

To make things worse Friday I had to take my mother to hospital because she broke a toe. Having my father totally dependent in bed makes things worse because to go to the hospital my mother had to find someone to stay with him. Luckily the broken toe will cure by himself and there is no need to immobilize the foot, therefore she’s able to walk around the house and still take care of my father.

Being in pain causes me a lot of discomfort, makes me impatience and I lose my temper very easily. Being in the computer has been very complicated lately because it caused me a lot of pain on my back and since I stay in the computer at work 8 hours, at night I’m already suffering a lot and I’m not able to spend a few more hours on the laptop. I look forward to September so that I can go to my doctor and start physiotherapy.

Regarding my work/job that’s a tough issue to resolve. No idea what to do with my working future.

One day at a time is an easy advise people usually give but it’s really hard to practice.

My kids love to be in the backyard pool. This photo was taken in July and they were playing at “Diving Together”. It’s great to capture their best moments together, when they are really getting along and not teasing each other.

I must confess…lately I’ve been lazy when it comes to tell bedtime stories.

I use to tell a story every night to my son and daughter but lately, with the hurry to go to bed, with our conversations (that are also important) bedtime story has gone to a second third plan. I confess this is something I’ve been thinking about lately because I’m afraid my kids will lose the “reading feature” we should all have.

For some kids reading can be a natural feature but for others reading is something that has to be learned-to-like. Not reading to my kids might transmit a negative idea and although they see me reading all the time, reading a bedtime story is something experts say: it’s a “must”, it’s essential to read to our sons and daughters.

I’ve done a little research about telling a story and what I can do to make my kids wanting more stories and I come up with a few important points:

Have Fun: The main objective of telling a story is to have fun, create a bound between the parent and the child.

Learn to tell a story: For a child, a parent that is able to tell a story without a book is the best parent. The story has to have a meaning and we can’t hesitate while we tell it. The child must be aware that the parent knows the story as well as the characters he’s/she’s talking about.

Repeat as per request: Anticipating what is going to happen is good for the child development. We should keep the story for how long the child requests it but we can add small details that will keep the story interesting to the child.

Know how to choose a story: Be aware of the child’s age when choosing a story. Most stories have details that will only be understood by the child years later but that’s a good think as long as the story adds something to the child’s life.

Forget the story moral: Don’t resume the story in one sentence when finishing reading it. The message should be transmitted on the story context, not at the end. If the child doesn’t understand the story maybe it’s not an appropriate story for his/her age. Years later, without notice, they will understand it for sure.

Read before telling: Read the story before you tell it to the child, this way you already have the idea when you should change your voice, make a pause, raise or lower your voice. Remember, if you make a special voice for each character you have to keep that until the end of the story.

Of course there are other important points I must be missing here and therefore I’m willing to receive your feedback. Please take a few seconds and answer to my poll:

Do you tell a bedtime time to your kids?

A few days a week

My vacation week is over and I’m back to work.

I can’t say I had a great vacation, I spent the days at home (something I like to do) with my kids because the weather was not good. Rain, cold, wind prevent us from going to the beach or even use the pool we have on our backyard. This situation made the kids very impatient and I spent most of my time yelling and screaming with them because they were always “picking” at each other and driving me crazy.

I love being at home with my kids but I hoped we could have more fun especially because it’s summer and we are supposed to take advantage of the good weather, not the case of course.

I tried to do some activities at home with them but they were always distracting themselves to other stuff, getting in fights, screaming at each other, etc. etc.. I had a hard time but let’s move on…

…and I ended up without Internet and phone. They called me Thursday morning to say that there were problems with some cables on the street but all phone teams were busy and as Friday was a public holidays only on Monday they were able to check on the problem. I was already convinced that I would be without Internet for four days and therefore I was going to take advantage and write some offline posts. For my completely astonishment, a few minutes ago I turned on the computer and I had Internet, I hope it lasts…

When I was 20 years old I started losing my vision and I ended up knowing I had myopia. I had to start wearing eyeglasses but soon I started with contact lenses. My son started using eyeglasses at the age of 6 because he has astigmatism. In September he will go back to the doctor to check his eyes and change the eyeglasses frame which is broken. His eyeglasses frame is blue but he already told me he wants to choose a different model of eyeglasses.

There are a wide variety of frames available in the market and ZenniOptical.com is a master when it comes to prescribed eyeglasses. ZenniOptical.com sell their eyeglasses at really affordable prices because they only sell what they manufacture, there are no agent or middle man between the manufacturer and the seller. All eyeglasses are of high quality and we can choose from several materials. Along with the frames and depending on the prescription there are several lens available (single vision, sunsensor (potochromic), tinted sunglasses, bifocal and progressive lens).

ZenniOptical.com has been recommended on TV, Radio and even on The Clark Howard Show.

As my son has blue eyes I would like to stick with the blue frame but he’s the one choosing (although I can have my opinion). I like this frame.

Today (yesterday - I’m writing after 00:00) I had a very unproductive day.

For a long time that we don’t have cable TV, but now, there are a variety of TV packages that are not expensive based on the services they provide. Now I have the chance to have phone+TV+Internet at affordable rates so I subscribed to one.

The cable technician arrived at 9am and a marathon of several hours just proved that we can not have a well served service although some neighbors can. Only at the end of the afternoon he figured out that a cable is not in good conditions, so I spent the whole day walking from one place to another of the house and the only real thing I did (beside taking care of the kids demands) was washing the floor of the house.

The cable TV is working but with low values so tomorrow the TV company will be calling to say if they are going to fix the cable or if they are removing the service. I’m really excited about watching FOX and AXN again…
